Executive Director: Louie Azzolini

Louie Azzolini is a professional planner with over 30 years of private and public sector planning experience. He resides in Yellowknife NWT, owns Terra Firma Consultants, and recently worked with the Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board and the UMA Group. He obtained a Diploma in planning in 1981, a Masters Degree in urban planning from the University of British Columbia 1993, and an MBA from Athabasca University. Louie strength is helping organizations make better decisions through sound analytical and interactive approaches. Louie enjoys strategic planning, land use planning, environmental planning and small business planning/coaching.

 

Office Manager: Faye MacDonald

Faye has lived and worked in Yellowknife since 1990. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan.

Operations Coordinator: Marie-Soleil Lacoursiere

Born and raised in Quebec, Marie-Soleil holds an Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration from the Universidad del Valle de Mexico in Mexico City and a Graduate Diploma in Operations Management from McGill University in Montreal. She also lived three years in Muenster, Germany, where she worked as a Project Analyst for LexisNexis GmbH. Through those international experiences, she became aware of the energy challenges individuals, businesses and communities face in different parts of the world, and of the importance of sustainable development. She spent the four years prior to joining AEA as a Business Development Manager for Drake International in their Montreal office.

Energy Management Specialist:  Nick Walker

Originally from Prince Edward Island, Nick moved up to Yellowknife in October 2011. He has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick. Nick enjoys making a difference by providing advice about ways to save energy.

Program and Human Resources Assistant: Jennifer Wicks

Born and raised in Newfoundland, Jennifer moved to the Northwest Territories in the summer of 2000. She holds an Administrative Sciences College Diploma from Academy Canada in Newfoundland. She has also worked and studied in the field of Human Resources over the past few years. Jennifer started working at the Arctic Energy Alliance in August 2008 where she continues to learn and enjoys helping others.

 

Programs Assistant: Kate Thomson

Kate grew up in Nova Scotia and has been in the north since 2005.  She earned a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from Acadia University and a Certificate in Environmental Practice from Royal Roads University.  She has enjoyed the move to energy management from waste management in 2010.

 

Regional Energy Project Coordinator (Inuvik): Donald Andre

Donald Andre is Gwich’in and originally from Tsiigehtchic, NT.  Started working for Arctic Energy Alliance August 2010.  Donald works with Mackenzie Delta and Beaufort Communities to adopt energy efficient products and practices.   He also focuses on working with home owners, communities and business to reduce energy consumption through education, information and advice.   Drop by the Inuvik office at 191 Mackenzie or call (867) 777-2068 when you are in Inuvik.

 

 

 Regional Energy Project Coordinator (Fort Simpson):  Teresa L. Chilkowich

A passionate social change agent, Teresa Chilkowich has been engaged in ecological stewardship, environmental education, and community building activities for almost twenty years.  Through her previous work with Environment Canada, Teresa has facilitated workshops on Healthy Communities and Waste Management in northern Labrador, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories and she is keen to create meaningful opportunities for community members to cultivate connections and wholeness with themselves, each other, and the living Earth.

Regional Energy Project Coordinator (Norman Wells):  Wayne Lennie

Born and raised in the Northwest Territories, Wayne is a Civil Engineer Technologist with over 30 years experience in all aspects of building construction along with Auto CAD drafting skills. He started work with Arctic Energy Alliance in October 2011 and will concentrate on helping individuals; businesses and communities of the Sahtu Region reduce their use of fossil fuels by converting to energy efficient alternatives.

Program Coordinator:  Dean Green

Mr. Green earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography at the University of Victoria.  His interest is learning how to use and live within the limited means of renewable energy technology systems of today and tomorrow.   One of his dreams is to build modern self sufficient homes and to help others how to do the same. 

 

 

CEP Coordinator: Linda Todd

Linda is a long-time Northerner who is enjoying working with the Arctic Energy Alliance and people in NWT communities to develop Community Energy Plans.

 

Senior Technical Specialist: John Carr

John is a professional engineer with LEED Professional Accreditation and also holds the Certified Energy Manager designation from the Association of Energy Engineers.  John was  raised in Yellowknife and returned after earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering  at the University of Alberta. He is passionate about assisting people to reduce their energy consumption and switch to renewable sources of energy.

 

Energy Management Specialist:  Margaret Mahon

Margaret holds a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering from The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. She's enthusiastic about helping people make better use of their energy resources. Previously she has worked in South Korea, Poland and England.

 

Energy Management Specialist: Leanne Robinson

Leanne completed an M.A.Sc. in Building engineering from Concordia University in Montreal and a B.A.Sc in Mechanical engineering at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Prior to joining the AEA in January 2011 she lived in a small rural community in The Gambia, West Africa and worked with a sustainable agricultural project involving energy efficient cooking technologies. She is a professional engineer and a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accredited professional.

Taicho Territory Energy Project Coordinator:  Sonny Zoe

Sonny worked as an Energy Program Coordinator for Whati for last 9 yrs and was recently hire by Arctic Energy Alliance as liason person for Tlicho region. He also sits on Alternative Energy Committee Board and is a Tlicho Government member. He is still active in the culture activities like drum dancing, hunting, fishing and trapping. He likes to listen to Elvis presley and travel.

Energy Management Specialist in Training: Austin Tokarek

Originally from BC, Austin holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Science from Royal Roads University where his research involved generating a greenhouse gas emissions inventory for the school. His career experience couples both ENGOs and government, including public outreach to promote sustainable agriculture in India, worm stewardship for a composting program in Victoria, BC, and coordination of environmental policy development for the GNWT. After graduating he also worked on a family project building two homes using sustainable techniques in Nelson, BC. He has been with the AEA since the summer of 2010.

Program Co-ordinator: Steve Outlet

Steve trained as a boat builder in New Brunswick, became a builder/renovator/cabinet maker when he moved north in 1982. Having spent so many winters in the north, Steve has developed a passion for nice snug housing and with his Dutch ancestry has an appreciation for saving energy and money. After working as an EGH evaluator for a few years Steve was hired on at AEA as Residential Energy Program coordinator for 2 years. After a year of travel with his family, he is back with AEA as a program co-ordinator.
