Home Appliances (Including Toilets)

A $75 rebate is available, as of September 1, 2009 for low flush or dual flush toilets. The toilet MUST meet the requirements outlined by the ecoENERGY Retrofit Program which follows the Los Angeles Supplementary Purchase Specifications (SPS), with a Maximum Performance (MaP) flush performance of 350 grams or more and uses 6 litres per flush or less. A complete list of qualified toilets can be found on the Veritec website.

Your fridge and clothes washing machine are two of the biggest energy users in your home. If you want to lower your electricity bill, replace your old appliance with an energy efficient ENERGY STAR® appliance.  You can get a $400 rebate if you live in a community powered by diesel or natural gas or $100 if you live in a community served by hydropower.

All you need to do is to purchase a new ENERGY STAR® fridge (larger than 7.75 cubic feet) or ENERGY STAR® washing machine.  ENERGY STAR® fridges use three to four times less energy than older inefficient models. ENERGY STAR® qualified washing machines use 50 per cent less energy and up to 40 per cent less water than traditional models.

Ask your retailer to help you choose an ENERGY STAR® appliance or browse our website to find out more.
