Business Opportunity:
ecoENERGY Certified Energy Advisors
The Arctic Energy Alliance delivers the federal ecoENERGY Retrofit program in the NWT. Under the ecoENERGY Retrofit program, property owners can qualify for federal grants by improving the energy efficiency of their homes, and reducing their home's impact on the environment.
NRCan-licensed Certified Energy Advisors conduct a detailed on-site assessment of your home's energy use from the attic down to the basement. They then provide you with a personalized report, including a checklist of recommended retrofits to improve the energy efficiency of your home. The report also shows the grant amounts for each eligible upgrade that you can receive by carrying out these energy saving improvements.
The Arctic Energy Alliance is currently recruiting additional Certified Energy Advisors. CEAs are paid on a fee per house basis. The Arctic Energy Alliance provides administrative and equipment assistance.
Training and certification workshops for new advisors are held periodically. Applicants require a thorough knowledge of residential construction and building science. Contractors working in residential renovations may find this client service complementary to their business. Advisors must have a computer, printer and vehicle.
